Introducing BitTorrent DNA

We made an exciting announcement today, unveiling BitTorrent DNA.

DNA is a content delivery service that allows websites to very quickly implement BitTorrent peer-accelerated delivery for downloads and now video streams as well. A few online media companies have been trying to develop their own P2P delivery technology with mixed success. BitTorrent DNA saves them the time and investment, while being truly best-of-breed (developed by the largest P2P R&D team ever assembled, including my business partner Bram Cohen).

DNA is designed to be an overlay on existing infrastructure, so don't replace any of your hardware or service providers. DNA installs in about 5 minutes and dramatically improves the user experience for video streams and downloads, making them faster and more reliable (no more choppy video!)

Here are the news clips from today:

WSJ: “BitTorrent Inc. … is planning today to unveil a technology that it says will make high-quality Web video affordable to a wider range of content providers.”

Forbes: “…it is an intelligent solution for faster, more efficient rich media, a very real and useful technology.“

Reuters: “BitTorrent DNA can boost the efficiency of video-streaming networks … which helps speed the delivery of Web content.”

FT.com: “[BitTorrent DNA] …spreads the load and speeds increase as more users join the download and this process of sharing.”

CNET: “BitTorrent is set to announce on Tuesday morning the availability of a new enterprise content delivery product, BitTorrent DNA.”

TechCrunch: “BitTorrent DNA … effectively creates a virtual network of viewers’ computers that will share amongst themselves to speed up downloads for popular files.”
